Creation of a common networking platform for different stakeholders including public bodies, enterprises, research institutes, universities… operating in the MED area.
Collection of information and promotion of the existing best practices regarding biowaste management (prevention, separate collection, treatment), compost use and marketing, awareness raising, legislation and tendering…through databases, GIS tools, reports, sheets, etc.
The intention is to focus on very practical issues and daily management approach, finding out gaps of information and target entities demands/needs.
Development of actions to reinforce the awareness and implication of local/regional policies in favor of biowaste separate collection and recycling (including compost application).
When needed, representing and defending the interest of the sector towards the EU and MED Area national authorities.
Development of divulgation and training activities: publications, position papers, courses, workshops, conferences, communication tools, etc.
The activities will be adapted to the different management models to be boosted (centralized, decentralized, home composting, etc). There will be different modalities: on-field and on-line activities/training.
Development of activities of investigation and research in a second stage of the MCN. The research will be based on practical/daily management issues and own member transferring of information if they are carrying out specific trials. The activities of other similar networks will be also capitalised.
